THIS IS MY WHY - ALYSSIA

I’ve always been a pretty active person when I was younger, and as I got older, it became more of a need than anything else. A few years ago, I fell into a bad cycle; I stopped working out for enjoyment, I found an enemy in food, and I started seeing training only as a way to change how I looked.

I wish I could say there was a miracle cure, but the truth is, the road was long and very bumpy to get to where I am today. I completely changed my life and the people around me, and as hard as it was, it’s by meeting incredible, driven, real, and brilliant people that I finally started to find myself again.

These were the people who, without even knowing it, helped me every day just by being themselves and slowly showing me the way. I started moving with them, and to my surprise, I found myself looking forward to our next run or swim, simply because it became a moment of peace and joy.

I picked up cycling to spend more time with my sister, and I fell in love with the sport. I slowly rediscovered my passion for swimming, then running, and I discovered Hyrox with one of my friends.

If I’m being honest, my friends and family — they are my why. They’re the reason I found myself again and why today I love moving my body, no matter the sport.

Even though training is now my escape, my moment of peace where I’m alone with myself and the noise of the outside world fades away, my passion comes from them. Today, I move for me — because I love to move, and sport has become a pillar in my life — but I’ll never forget those beautiful, strong, and confident people who lit up my path simply through their kindness.
