So You Want to Do a Hyrox? Here's How to Start
What is Hyrox, exactly?
It’s a hybrid race that combines strength and endurance, with 8 km of running broken up by 8 functional fitness exercises. Squats, rowing, burpees, sled pushes… it’s intense — but so satisfying. And the best part? It’s open to everyone.
It’s easy to see pro athletes on our feeds and think this kind of race is just out of reach. But those are the exact moments when you need to believe in yourself. We don’t all have the same goals, but that doesn’t make yours any less important. Whether you're a professional athlete training to qualify for Worlds, a new mom rediscovering her passion for movement post-birth, or a busy student looking to have fun with a friend — Hyrox is for you.
It’s a challenge with a clear goal. It forces you out of your comfort zone. You work on your cardio, strength, technique — and most importantly, your confidence. No matter your fitness level, this race will push your limits and teach you not to quit, even when your mind says you’ve had enough.
Want to feel strong, fast, capable? This is the kind of challenge you need.

Where to start?
1. Move more — but smarter
You don’t need to sign up for 10 HIIT classes a week. Start with 2–3 workouts that mix:
- running (intervals and endurance)
- functional movements (lunges, wall balls, ski erg…)
2. Gear up the right way
Wear workout clothes that actually stay in place (we see you, Divine Shorts 👀), stable shoes, and a good supportive sports bra.
3. Join a community
Training alone is great — but surrounding yourself with other motivated women will take you further. Check out local gyms offering Hyrox-style classes, or build your own little crew. Having people with you during those tough cardio sessions changes everything.
Hyrox may feel intimidating, but that’s exactly what makes it so powerful. The fact that you’re even reading this means you’re ready to level up.
And who knows? Maybe we’ll see you at the starting line real soon 🖤
